Availability

Availability means that visitors keep a useful search route.

A process that runs does not guarantee a working search experience. Availability should be assessed on complete customer paths: from entering a search term to displaying and opening relevant products.

Complete controls

Periodically check real search paths instead of just checking if a server is answering. Test a representative search term, filters and open a product. This is how empty indexes, incorrect configurations and unusable answers are discovered that lack a simple status check.

Simplify controlled

Not every malfunction has to disable the entire search function. When an optional AI layer or enrichment fails, a simpler but reliable search method can remain available. Determine in advance which parts can be safely disabled and which information is shown to the visitor.

Dependencies and isolation

Map indexing, product data, models, events and external services separately. Prevent a problem from one store, language or additional function to affect all stores. Good insulation reduces the impact and makes the cause easier to find.

Incident limits and communication

Record when a deviation is only investigated internally and when there is a customer impact. Write down involved stores, features and time period. Clear boundaries prevent both unnecessary escalation and late communication about a real problem.

Search management

Make reliability part of daily management.

Discuss which measurements, responsibilities and restoration routes fit your online stores and technical environment.
